Terms and Conditions

Last Updated: 21/08/2024

Welcome to InterCity Electrical. By accepting our quotation and engaging our services, you agree to the following terms and conditions. These terms outline the scope, responsibilities, and expectations of both InterCity Electrical and our clients. Please read them carefully.

  1. Fixed Price Estimates

All fixed-price estimates provided by InterCity Electrical include the necessary labour, materials, plant, equipment, and any congestion charges based on information provided during our initial site survey. All estimates are subject to VAT.

While every effort is made to ensure accuracy, estimates are based on the estimator’s interpretation of information provided and the site visit. InterCity Electrical accepts no responsibility for omissions or errors leading to extra charges due to unforeseen circumstances.

Parking costs, unless otherwise stated, are not included in your estimate and must be arranged and paid for by the client. Any changes or additions to the original estimate may result in additional costs. Any work not included in the original estimate will be treated as a variation and priced accordingly.

  1. Payment Terms

Some fixed-price work may require:

* An initial deposit

* Staged interim payments

* A final balance payable upon completion

All invoices are due on completion of works unless otherwise agreed in writing. Full payment must be received within 7 days of completion.

  1. Call-Out & Reactive Works

Reactive/call-out services are charged at a minimum of one hour (labour only) + VAT. Materials, congestion, and parking are charged in addition. After the first hour, time is billed in 30-minute increments at the same hourly rate.

Travel to collect materials is charged within the hourly rate. Hourly rates vary by area and will be confirmed prior to scheduling. Engineer appointments must be confirmed via email.

  1. Cancellations and Re-Scheduling

* 24 hours’ notice is required to reschedule work.

* Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur a minimum one-hour charge.

* Deposits are non-refundable once work has been scheduled and accepted in writing.

* If engineers are unable to commence works on the agreed date due to reasons beyond our control, a minimum one-hour charge will apply.

  1. Customer-Supplied Materials

If you are supplying your own materials, they must be on site at the start of the job. If not, and a return visit is required, this will be billed at our standard hourly rate.

  1. Site Conditions and Property Protection

We take care to protect your property by using protective sheeting where appropriate. However:

* We are not responsible for damage to personal items, furniture, or flooring.

* We recommend that clients remove personal belongings prior to work commencing.

* Any carpets or flooring lifted and refitted by us may require professional re-fitting at your cost.

* InterCity Electrical does not include after-build cleaning or “making good” unless explicitly stated in your estimate.

  1. Waste Removal

There are no hidden charges. Waste from supplied and installed materials will be removed. If the volume of waste requires a third-party contractor, the cost will be included in your estimate where applicable.

  1. Working Hours & Access

All works are assumed to be carried out during normal working hours:
Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm.

Access to all work areas must be unrestricted. Parking and access must be arranged by the client unless otherwise specified. Delays or restricted access may result in additional charges.

  1. Ownership of Materials

All materials supplied by InterCity Electrical remain our property until paid for in full. Failure to pay may result in interest charges of 2% per day on overdue amounts. Unpaid invoices may result in legal action and the use of a debt recovery agency, with all associated costs added to your outstanding balance.

  1. Certification & Compliance

NAPIT Part P and Building Regulation compliance certificates will only be issued upon completion of works and receipt of full payment.

If additional remedial works are needed for compliance, certification will only be issued once these are completed and paid for. Certification can take up to 30 days to process.

If remedial work is not carried out by InterCity Electrical, a non-compliance certificate will be issued instead.

  1. Insurance & Guarantees

We are fully insured with the following:

* 2,000,000 Public Liability Insurance

* £250,000 Professional Indemnity Insurance

Confirmation of coverage is available upon request.

Guarantees:

* All products carry a 12-month manufacturer’s warranty

* We offer a 12-month workmanship guarantee

* NAPIT-backed 6-year insurance warranty is available for qualifying works

  1. Delays & Completion

Completion dates are estimates only. Delays can result from:

* Material or parts availability

* Changes in scope

* Additional works

* External factors (e.g., weather)

We will keep you informed of any changes affecting completion times.

  1. Validity of Estimates

All estimates are valid for 30 days from the date issued. To proceed, email confirmation of acceptance and deposit (if applicable) is required. Upon receipt, we will contact you to schedule a suitable start date.

  1. Works Handover & Client Involvement

Once works commence, our engineers will follow a defined scope of works based on your accepted estimate. You’re encouraged to be present at the start of works to ensure alignment on expectations.

Upon completion, our engineers will walk you through the installation, run necessary tests, and request that you sign a completion checklist.
